What Age Should Kids Start Soccer? A Broward Parent Guide

Choosing a first soccer program in Broward County: age groups, beginner-friendly coaching, soccer and futsal, costs, and a free assessment in Coconut Creek.

01

Start with readiness and the right group

A useful starting point is whether your child wants to try, can take part in simple group activities, and feels comfortable learning with a coach. Age helps identify a group, but experience, confidence, and the session environment matter too.

Inter Broward CF's published programs serve boys and girls ages 5–16. For a younger child, contact the club about current options before submitting an assessment request. A first visit should help your family decide whether the group is a good fit.

02

A first-time player does not need to impress

Tell the coach if your child is new to organized soccer. Look for clear instructions, patient corrections, repeated chances to touch the ball, and activities your child can understand. Ask how the coach adjusts the challenge for different levels.

After the session, ask what your child enjoyed, what felt difficult, and whether they would like to return. An assessment is a chance to learn about the environment and receive a placement recommendation, not a guarantee of a team place.

03

Compare the logistics before enrolling

  • Training venues: Gerber Park West, 4715 NW 30th Street, and Sabal Pines Park, 5005 NW 39th Ave, in Coconut Creek.
  • Weekly schedule: Monday field practice at Gerber Park West, Tuesday futsal at Sabal Pines Rink, and Thursday field practice at Sabal Pines North, all 6–7:30 PM. Staff confirms the appropriate session and group.
  • New-player tuition: $150 per month, plus $90 registration including two practice jerseys. Existing families keep their current rate.
  • Ask about separate match, team, and tournament costs before accepting placement.
  • Bring water, shin guards, comfortable athletic clothing, and the footwear staff confirms for soccer or futsal.
04

Use a free assessment to make the decision

Families from Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Parkland, Margate, Deerfield Beach, and nearby Broward communities can request up to two free player assessment sessions. No payment is required to submit the request.

Club staff will confirm a date and age-appropriate group. Submitting the form does not book a session automatically. If you have questions about beginner readiness or availability, call or text 954-504-1315 before your visit.
